So I’m not at the airport…. but I will be tomorrow, so I guess I’ll call this a preemptive post.

Went and saw Cowboy Mouth last night at the windjammer. They’re from my home town so I didn’t really have a choice .It was the usual awkward high energy cowboy mouth show. If you like getting yelled at for not enjoying a show enough by a really coked up/ sweaty fat guy, then Cowboy Mouth may be the band for you. I was kinda pissed I’d paid a large cover to see them, but then I had a couple beers and everything was okay…. It’s disturbing how often that’s the most reasonable solution. Watching a crappy band, at a crappy party, in a crappy marriage? Oh yeah, beer.

I started playing in a pretty large well organized pick up soccer league last week. It was pretty awesome. I realized I’m no longer fat and slow, I just kinda suck and can’t run for a long time. Which is markedly less depressing. All and all I did pretty well for not having played in 6 months and I’m hoping I’m in town more on the days they play. It’s a pretty multinational crowd, there was actually a large group of Caribbeans. At first I thought it was just a group of guys fucking around…. but then 2 hours later they were still completely incomprehensible. I did better trying to understand the spanish guys. It did however make me look forward to my weekend in Jamaica in August. Hooray work trips to sweet ass places.

Anway, since this is my real free time I’m burning here, I’ll keep this brief.

Change of format.

Since the only time that I really have any inclination to write in this devil book is while I’m extremely bored…. I’ve decided to refine the format a little. I will not almost exclusively update this “Blog” while at airports… We’ll see where this leads, probably to arrest and eventual deportation.

Anyhow, I’m on my way to New Orleans on Bidnass, doing a case there tomorrow morning and then heading around that region for a couple days running errands. Oh the perpetual excitement of my work. How could one guy get so lucky. Unfortunately due to federal regulations that’s about all the detail I can go into. My short term goals at the moment are to be in Chucktown as often as I can on Tuesdays, Thursday Saturday and Sunday night to play in my new found love, the Charleston Pickup soccer league. To that end you can now find me in my hour of time between arriving and random hotel and crashing, running around like an idiot or peddling away on some poorly maintained “exercise bike”. That’s what the locals call it atleast. I refuse to be the fat/slow/ old 22 year old with the magical luxating patella. NO! I will beat my new friends (who will no doubt be cooler and better looking than my old friends) into submission with sweet ass moves from south LA that will befuddle their simple minds.

So it’s been what, four months since I last wrote anything on this lil’ blog of mine. In that time I’ve settled in to my job, Charleston and real life in general. I went to another wedding and even took a nice little vacation. Unfortunately for you I have absolutely no interest in putting a lot of effort in catching you, imaginary reader, up on any of this. No, the future is now!

I’m still struggling with the dynamic in my new city. While it’s perfectly okay for my roommate to be outside my marketing demographic, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the crowd he runs with for business and pleasure. As much as I enjoyed the company of Dr. ___ and her admittedly lovely friend Ms. 49 It wasn’t quite the generation I was looking for when I set out to watch my Saints beat up some guts ( Which they fucking delivered on). On the bright side if I ever have health issues ( or questions about the arts erotic apparently) I can call Dr. ___ and she’ll be more than happy to service those needs. Honestly I’m a bit frightened because I’ve never been more viciously hit on, much less by someone who could have been in high school with my mother….

So after a whirlwind holiday or drunkenness interspersed with moments of sobriety where I actually managed to speak to my friends and family, I expected it would take a while for me to get back into the swing of work. I was half right. I started slow and work proceeded to teabag me. So now a week later I’m finally caught up and back in the thick of things. The grundle or doadis of work if you will. Nothing too crazy, just a little running around the Carolinas and a week in Chicago, which is quickly becoming my favorite city in the states. Next week I’ll do more of the same.

On even less exciting news I went to the Improv in downtown Chuck last weekend. It was a pretty decent set for local players. Although sadly they didn’t take my suggestion of “Killing a Drifter!” when they asked the audience for a common experience to base a sketch off. The whole cast actually repeated what I had said in unison in a shocked tone. Then I saw the main actor mutter wow… Then my tampon fell out of my purse in front of the whole class and my crush picked up it, I was absolutely mortified. Anyway, while down there I noticed the chair in front of me was sponsored by Stephen Colbert, a native of the chuck.

That’s all I’ve got, I’m waiting in O’Hare (yet again) for a delayed plane. Somebody say a prayer. Or better yet hijack a Greyhound and come get me.

Holiday Wrap Up

New Years was pretty amazing. I’m not really sure how I made it through. Somehow all the partying actually helped my cold and I’m feeling much better now. Before Christmas I purchased a sexy new camera with the intention of bringing it out and documenting the holidays. I took about a hundred pictures in DC and yet not one is decent. They’re all blurry, or someone’s attempting to eat the camera. It was that kind of weekend. I’ll stick a couple of the choice ones up once I’m home for a decent amount of time. I had to run up to Greensboro tonight to take care of something in the morning. It’s actually nice to be back at work and feeling like a human being again instead of a complete degenerate. It’s also nice to no longer be hungover.

Here’s to a new year chock full of exciting new possibilities.

The DC New Years MashUp

Current forecast models are showing a 90% chance of awesome for the DC Metro area this weekend. I’ll be there doing my best to make sure that forecast comes to fruition. I’m meeting up with a couple of friends from Tulane, a couple of whom live in the area. There I’ll be reliving my “glory days”, which probably means getting drunk pretty early and playing Johns new Nintendo Wii.

The Vegas odds makers have put my chance of survival at 7 to 1. It was 4 to 1 before Christmas but I’ve been fighting a pretty nasty cold. Unfortunately for my body John and Will subscribe to the “just drink it off you fucking pussy” school of medical thought. The scary part is Will’s actually slated to start his MD program there in the fall (he mentioned it was in Mississippi).

Well if I don’t update until after New Years it’s because I’m either drunk, dead, or in jail. Pray for the first one. If this break is anywhere as much fun as Christmas…. whoa I got a little chub just thinking about it.

Because I’m very mature and completely original…

For the record my dick wasn’t actually in the box. I think Natalie had put a delicious summer sausage in there. Later on it was a microphone. I beat the shit out of that dead horse.

I know many of you fancy yourselves air guitarists. I hate to discourage you in this honorable pursuit. However, I’d like to offer some evidence of my Complete Universal Dominance of the sport of Air Guitar.

This photo was unearthed by Kristin (pictured at left on air bass).

As you can see, I was rocking so completely that the guitar actually appeared in the spectrum (if only in the infrared portion, as evidenced by the fact that no one in the bar including myself saw it) with enough strength for the camera to capture it in all its glory! I’ve heard of this happening with Air Drums, but even then only the sticks and not the actual kit. What can I say, years of practice are bound to pay off.

The fourth day of Christmas

Ahh Christmas day. I’ve been looking forward to this since maybe Friday. My family’s famously bad at gift giving and receiving. It’s almost hilarious to watch. Almost. My mom gave me a knife block shaped like a person. I thought that was a little strange. I guess the knives look nice though. The one thing I really wanted and have put on my list for the past 14 years (a Red Ryder 200-shot carbine-action model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time) was again not under the tree. I had a Daisey for a couple years, but that would just wing blue jays. I’ve heard the Red Ryder can take out a medium sized cat.

Hunter put up some spectacular pictures this afternoon from the Christmas party.

Well it’s back to work for me. Luckily it’ll only be for 3 days. Thursday night I’m flying up to DC for New Years. Awesome!

The third day of christmas

Last night was the annual Christmas party. It was awesome. Everyone in attendance was lucky enough to witness a very rare occurrence, on the order of a full solar eclipse or a full mangina. For the first time in over a year we were at a full hard 8. Even Phil and The Dog whose parents have since moved from Lafayette made it. It was a joyous occasion. Unfortunately my camera ran out of batteries and my charger is in Charleston. When I get the pictures I’ll stick them up.
